Mother asks internet for help after finding mysterious piles of ‘brown bits’ in daughter’s bedroom
In August 2023, Kelli Tarin, a mother of three, turned to Facebook for help with a mysterious pest problem in her daughter’s room. She had found piles of what looked like “coffee grounds” and was frantic, contacting her landlord and pest control companies, none of which could identify the issue
Her post quickly gained attention, with suggestions ranging from flying ants to rat poop. Despite receiving multiple theories, Kelli couldn’t find a solution. She even stopped letting her daughter sleep in her room and consulted two pest control companies, both of which were stumped.
The breakthrough came when someone mentioned a possible connection to a stuffed lavender bear.
Kelli checked the bear and, to her surprise, discovered it was full of tiny beads. The “piles” were simply beads spilled out from the toy. Kelli was both relieved and amused, laughing for 30 minutes at the whole ordeal!
